The popular yeast host Pichia pastoris is used for the production of a variety of proteins for industrial and biopharmaceutical applications.
This master thesis will be embedded in an industrial collaboration project and focus on enhancing the expression system for production of antibody fragments (e.g. Fab, scFv, vHH) which are of substantial interest for the biopharmaceutical industry.
You get the opportunity to achieve profound knowledge and practical experience in many different applied methods of biotechnology, which are highly demanded in both academic research and industry.
The work will focus on:
molecular biological methods: vector construction and cloning
microbiology: small scale cultivations
biochemical analysis of product quantity and quality
