The Cell-Chip Group at the TU Vienna is looking for a motivated master student to join our research team. The proposed project will be in the framework of a European grant (ENDOTARGET) that focuses on the relationship between rheumatic diseases and pathogenic gut microbiota. The candidate is going to learn how to manufacture a gut-on-a-chip device with integrated electrodes, the development of organ-equivalent biology, and cell-based analysis. The core of the project is the maintenance of the gut-on-a-chip system with characterization and microbial compound testing. The aim is to investigate the impact of pathogenic lipopolysaccharides or bacterial outer membrane vesicles on the disruption of the gut barrier and inflammation to determine bacteria as drivers of disease onset and disease activity in rheumatic diseases.
