Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the most common cancer in the western world. Antibodies against tumourautoantigens
(TAA) can serve as biomarkers for early diagnostics and are best suited for simple and
cheap immunological testing using only a few microliters of serum/plasma of patients.
In our previous work we have developed TAA-based multiplexed peptide micro-arrays (~172 000 peptides) for identification of potential biomarkers, which enabled distinguishing CRC and healthy controls. In this project, we aim to set up an antigenic-peptides based testing platform for confirmation of potential biomarkers derived from peptide micro-arrays. Serum of patients and healthy controls will further be tested on the developed multiplexed-platform for biomarker validation.
The project will deliver novel assays and biomarkers for early colon-cancer diagnostic testing. The strategy developed within this project can be used also for improving minimally invasive diagnostic assays for many other diseases.
