Chitosan is a bio-based polymer with high interest in biomedical applications due to its antimicrobial and biocompatible properties. Enzymatic coupling of lignin model substances to chitosan leads to the formation of hydrogels which are polymer networks that are able to absorb water and are used as wound dressings. This coupling process is a new and green technology to create bio-based hydrogels without the use of any toxic cross linkers.
We are therefore looking for a master student with high interest in this topic.

HPLC-TOF mass spectrometry
Antimicrobial assays

Requirements:
Education in biotechnology / chemistry / food technology or related field
