The Bioinformatics group of Prof. Himmelbauer (Boku - DBT) is currently offering a position for a Ph.D. student.
The successful candidate (f/m) will pursue a Ph.D. project related to the interpretation of plant genome data from next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms within the FFG funded project “BeetSelect”. In particular, the candidate will characterize the genome of sugar beet and its wild relative sea beet. Sequencing data from several hundreds of beets will be used to comprehensively chart the variation landscape of this species. Genes under natural or under artificial selection will be discovered, followed by interpretation of the findings in a biological context.
Application deadline is Sep 25th 2016, further information is provided in the attached .pdf file.
