In an interdisciplinary collaboration project between the group of Cellular Therapeutics at the CCRI (St. Anna Kinderkrebsforschung) and the group of Protein Biochemistry at the BOKU (Prof. Obinger) we want to develop a new generation of CAR-T cells for safe and specific tumor eradication. We have very successfully started this project early this year and are now looking for two master students who are interested in joining our team.

The CAR-T cell immunotherapy approach is one of the hottest topics in cancer therapy and has already shown groundbreaking success in therapy of previously incurable forms of leukemia. Novel molecular tools for improving the approach, however, are urgently needed for translating this success to other tumors.

Due to the interdisciplinary setup the two master theses will cover a broad array of aspects ranging from protein/ligand interaction, protein engineering, to functional characterization of anti-tumor efficacy of CAR-T cells in vitro and possibly also in vivo.
